Transient lingual papillitis are small bumps on the top and sides of your tongue. They are commonly known as lie bumps. These little bumps on your tongue give it a rough texture that irritates you when you eat. The papillae are tiny bumps on top of your tongue and contain taste buds and temperature sensors. Papillae are not noticeable under normal conditions, but they may become large and pimple-like on the tongue with inflammatory tongue conditions like transient lingual papillitis. But if these bumps are permanent, growing, spreading, or making it difficult for you to eat, it is better to see a doctor.

Lie bumps go away after a few days at best, but if they are severe it may take several weeks.

Acute lingual papillitis:

It is most common in children and is sometimes associated with a viral infection. There is also the possibility of it being contagious.

The cause of transient lingual papillitis

They are more likely to occur in people who eat a lot of highly acidic foods (including fruits and vegetables), spicy, and sugary foods.

Other main causes include:

• Infections

• Stress

• Trauma, even from biting the tongue

• Gastrointestinal problems including constipation

• Food allergy

To treat them, you can use some simple methods, such as:

• Rinsing your mouth with salt water

• Brushing teeth twice a day and using mouthwash (without alcohol) to clean the mouth from all kinds of harmful bacteria.

• Avoid eating irritating foods

If we want to use medicine, it is better to go to the dentist for an examination and receive the necessary prescription.
